New Delhi, March 18, 2015

Thousands of farmers from Punjab under the leadership of Bharti Kissan Union (BKU) Ekta (Dakaunda) and Azad Kissan Sangarsh Committee (AKSC), held a massive demonstration in New Delhi. Opposition parties and farmers have marched in the capital and protested against the bill, calling it anti-farmer in a country where agriculture is the main livelihood for more than 60 percent of the 1.2 billion people. One of the Opposition leaders asserted me : 

The new Land Acquisition Ordinance is a tool to displace farmers at the cost of big corporate and land sharks and we are protesting against the poor implementation of land reforms in the state. A protest to not allow to implement this draconian legacy of Imperial regime and to carry out prolonged struggle to get it abrogated.
